Kid's Mother's Day Class

I have just started running Children's Cardmaking Classes from home, and at our first one we made cards and a gift for Mother's Day - but I have been unable to post it, as many of their mums read my blog! The girls seemed to have a great time, and I loved working with them, can't wait till this Friday when we are making Birthday cards and a lolly bag.

Here are their creations:

A mother's day card, matching gift tag and a sour cream container with choccies inside, I hope all the lovely mummies out there are having a great Mother's Day, and being thoroughly spoiled.

Watercolouring Virgin! and welcome to Jodie

I saw an amazing card here using one of my new favourite sets 'Lots of Bots', I'm very fickle by favourites change regularly! I don't often CASE cards, but I was so inspired by this one, that I broke open the Watercolour Paper that has been in my stash for a very long time and gave it a go, I'm really happy with the results. I did this whilst spending some time with my new and first recruit Jodie, very exciting times, and she assures me that the watercolouring looks fine.

I enjoyed the colouring so much and found it very therapeutic that I was inspired to create a second card using the same technique. I have to say this set did nothing for me when I saw it in the Mini, but my daughter is always allowed to choose one set and this was her choice, no surprises there, having used it it has definitely grown on me!

Hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed creating them, and hopefully in the not too distant future I'll be able to share some of Jodie's creations with you.

Sorry for the long absence, blame school holidays, my mum visiting from the UK, an Icelandic volcano eruption etc, etc. Am hoping to have more time to stamp now as I have given up working for a living and am hoping (read as dreaming) to be a kept woman!

It's feeling so good to stamp again, have lots to share, April's stamp club was great fun. I went for simpler cards this month, that all used the Extra Large Two Step Bird Punch, which can be found in the current Mini Catalogue, to show its versatility, and we masking and sponging techniques.

More Stamp Club Goodies

Last night, was the second Stamp Club meeting for March, so all my lovely ladies have made their Easter goodies, so I will now share the other two projects we created. Alongside the Top Note Quilt Card, here, they also made two more items using the Top Note Die and the 'A Good Egg' stamp set.

One was a purse, and the other a bag topper. All of these projects also included some paper piecing as this was the technique I taught this month, a really simple technique but so, so effective.

If you would like more details on my stamp clubs feel free to email me, they are held in Atwell, WA and you get all the benefits of being a hostess, without the hassle of actually hosting a party ie, I do the cleaning, tea/coffee etc and you still are entitled to your hostess sets and hostess dolllars - it couldn't be simpler!!

Didn't make it!

I had every intention of creating and posting on Sunday, but what is it they say about the best intentions..... well that's what happened here it all went wrong. How dare some unknown virus get in the way of my personal challenge, for the first time in my life I have been signed off work by the doctor, so have had heaps of time on my hands but have done nothing creative at all - I've managed to sleep the time away, which feels like such a waste but was so needed.

Anyhow here is one of the items my gorgeous Stamp Club ladies will be creating soon, we are basing our creations around Easter and the use of the Top Note Die, which I have been dieing (pun intended!!) to get my hands on! Once again I have used that very cute chickie from A Good Egg stamp set.

I'm also going to enter this into the Just Add Ink Easter Challenge if I get there in time, I'm not sure on the time difference!

More new treats

Only one more day to go, and I'll have managed seven posts in seven days - am so hoping I achieve it, but it's going to get more tricky as hubby returns home tomorrow! Anyway this will be a short and sweet post, as I'm going to get an early night as not feeling crash hot.

I needed to make a 2nd Birthday card, and thought one of the new sets from the upcoming Mini would be perfect - the characters in the Fox and Friends set are just so cute. I don't normally do cutesy sets, but something about these just appealed to me. I wanted to try and use bright colours so that it would be suitable for a boy or a girl, let me know what you think.

I really should have straightened that photo up, sorry.

Easter Pressies for Teachers

I decided that I really should start all the Easter things that I need to do, I want to make Easter pressies for all the children in both Liberty and Aedyn's classes, Aedyn needs an Easter bonnet and between them they have seven teachers - school, Kindy and daycare - so needed to make a start. I was also motivated by the Just Add Ink blog, when their challenge this week was all things Easter.

http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/

It also seemed like a good idea to play with more new toys from the upcoming Mini, this time my Big Shot came out to play. I placed such a big pre-order (!) that with my Hostess dollars, I was able to order the Pillow Box die as a freebie, and I love it. It creates these cute little boxes in a matter of seconds and aren't they gorgeous? Especially coupled with the very cute chick from the 'A Good Egg' set, I love pink and green together so was very happy with how these turned out. They'll be even better once they're filled with chocolate.

Matching Gift Card Holder

Hold on to your hats, but yes I am posting again, I am going to try and do a post a day for a week, which means I have to create something every day - but am enjoying the challenge I have set myself. And my to do list is becoming far shorter as a result, the house is filthy but never mind I'm having fun!

I have created a gift card holder to go alongside the card I made yesterday, these are so easy to make and just make the pressie look so much more thoughtful than it does on the piece of cardboard you buy it on. I hope the young man in question enjoys spending it.

Enjoy, and pop back tomorrow I have more sneak peeks to share! xxx

Sleepover Girls

Liberty has had many sleepovers, but was so excited this weekend to be going to her first Sleepover Birthday Party, there were five girls attending and I wanted to make a card that represented the level of excitement she was feeling!

I used one of my all time favourite stamp sets, 'All in the Family', as I've said before it is a little fiddly to use, but as long as you have a Stamp-a-ma-jig, it's very easy. The cards you can create, particularly for children are just so cute. The card was supposed to represent the five girls, all in their PJ's ready to sleep.

Fabulous 40!

On Friday, I had the honour of attending a gorgeous lady's 40th Birthday party, which was made all the more special by the fact that it was also my birthday! Lots of us put in to a collection for her pressie, but to keep it personal we all added our own birthday cards. Having created my first easel card in the previous post, I decided to do another one of these as I think they are just stunning.

This is the card I created, it is so pretty in real life, very sparkly!!

Twin Gumball Machines

Liberty has twins in her class and it was their birthday last week. She wanted them to have the 'same but different' cards, so I ended up making two gumball machines in different colours, one shown in oranges, and one in pinks. The colour choice was governed by the colour of the jellybeans in the bag!

I made these with a trapdoor, so Alice and Izzy could retrieve their jellybeans without destroying the card, the directions were from the wonderful website of http://inkingidaho.blogspot.com/ this is just a wealth of beautiful, brilliant ideas!

February Stamp Club

I run a stamp club every month for a group of lovely ladies, they come along and I demonstrate a technique which we then put into practice by making some samples. They then place a monthly order and each month one of them is chosen to be the 'hostess' - all the benefits of hosting their own workshop but with none of the hassle!

This month I demonstrated the 'Rock and Roll' technique, which despite being really simple, produces beautiful results, we coupled this with 'Non-standard Card', so we made an Easel Card and a Joy-Fold card.

Here are the samples

Open House

I've been MIA for the last week, you can tell my hubby has been home, far less time for the computer or for stamping! Good job he's only home one week in every five, or I'd get nothing done.

I held an open house on February 5th to celebrate Sale-A-Bration, and it was a huge success, all of the ladies that came along seemed to have a great time, and all got to complete two free make and takes, a 'sour cream' container and a card.

I would just like to thank everyone who came along and made the night such a huge success, and congratulate Mel S who won the door prize, a pack of Designer Series Paper of her choice, and Dionnie who won the prize draw - which you were entered into if you placed a $100 order- winning her own set of the Thank You Kindly stamp set.

Choo Choo Colour Challenge

I have a number of little boys birthdays coming up, two of whom are having 'Thomas the Tank' parties, so I decided it was time to grab out my Choo Choo set (now retired) and have some fun. To add to the mix, I found a colour challenge on Stamping 411, which offered a colour combo I would never have thought of putting together, but seemed to scream out boys cards!!

And here's the card I created, I actually like the three colours together, couple with the neutrals whisper white and basic black, I think it's quite cute. Although I did learn the importance of using your embossing buddy, I forgot to use mine and if you look amongst the train track you'll see the tiny specks of embossing powder - whoops!

Here's the sketch:

A Sweet Sunday Sketch (#54) for a Special Lady

Am really loving these sketches, although it seems if I don't do it on a Sunday I just don't get to it! Well we had a quiet day today, spent the day at home between the pool and the air con, trying to keep Liberty calm - she is so excited about starting Year 2 tomorrow - which I suppose is a good thing, let's hope she's still excited this time tomorrow having actually been.

Anyway enough of me rambling on, here's the great sketch I was working from:

This was a challenge for me, as I don't often make square cards, although when I do they often end up being favourites, and it gave me the opportunity to play with my circle scissors, which I am loving.

Here's my take on the challenge, which is for one of the most beautiful ladies I have ever met, she is going through a tough time,, and I just wanted to let her know that she isn't far from my thoughts at the moment and that I'm here whenever she needs me.

Raspberry Tart Treat Box

I used the instructions from the SplitCoastStampers Resource Gallery, and it was so easy, this section of the SplitCoast site is just abundant with ideas, all accompanied by clear printable instructions. If you haven't visited it yet, make sure you head on over, although beware you'll spend hours 'oohing and aahing' and none creating!!

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/treat_box/

Anyway I wasn't sure how big this box would turn out, but loved the idea, I was thrilled to discover how big it was and decided immediately it would make a very pretty addition to my stamping area as storage for my markers. Would love to hear your ideas on other pretty, but practical, storage solutions.

Mojo Monday Challenge

This was the sketch provided by Mojo Monday

I decided to set myself a challenge, and use more than three colours on a card and because I never use them, decided these had to be from the 'Bold Brights' family. I must admit these colours scare me and I shy away from them - it was because of this I purchased the Kaleidoscope DSP from the new Summer mini. I'm not sure at all about this card, but it was fun to work with such bright colours, I may try it more often - but don't hold your breath!!!

Sweet Treats

These cups are so cute, this is the card I created for my daughter's birthday she loved it. It's quite hard to see, I'll get better at taking photos I'm sure, but the jelly beans are covered in crystal effects which really makes them pop off the page.

My first attempt at a Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge, and my first attempting at posting a link to my blog! Let's hope it works.
